The Honorable Carrie E. Glaeden currently sits on the bench of the Franklin County Municipal Court. In April of 2004, Judge Glaeden was appointed to fill a vacant seat on the Franklin County Municipal Court and in 2005 she won the election to fill the unexpired term. In 2008 and 2009, Judge Glaeden was honored by her peers by being unanimously elected as the Administrating and Presiding Judge for the Franklin County Municipal Court. As a Judge in the Municipal Court, Judge Glaeden arraigns criminal and traffic defendants, presides over criminal and traffic misdemeanor cases, presides over civil cases where the amount in controversy is $15,000 or less, authorizes search warrants and conducts civil ceremonies of marriage.
Prior to taking the bench nearly five years ago, Judge Glaeden served in various legal positions including Deputy Chief Legal Counsel for the Office of the Governor, Chief of Crime Victims Services at the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, Chief Legal Counsel for the Ohio Department of Liquor Control and Assistant City Prosecutor for the City of Columbus.
Judge Glaeden’s academic background includes a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and a Juris Doctor from The Ohio State University College of Law. Following law school, Judge Glaeden has been admitted to practice law in Ohio, The United States Supreme Court, The United States District Court Northern District of Ohio and The United States District Court Southern District of Ohio.
Judge Glaeden remains an active member of her community. In 2009, MADD awarded Judge Glaeden with the “Judicial Award of Excellence.” Judge Glaeden is also a Pledge Program Chair for the Susan G. Komen for a Cure Race Committee, Chair of the Ohio Family Violence Prevention Center Advisory Council and past Chair of the Board of Directors to Maryhaven Inc.
Judge Carrie Glaeden is married, has two adult step-children, and resides in Columbus, Ohio.
